The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center hosted a mask decoration contest during October 2020! (Design above)
My family friend loves smiley faces on pajamas. I immediately wanted a smiley face design because it feels good helping people smile! I wanted positivity, and cheerfulness to be the focus, so smiley faces felt perfect.
Researching, I discovered wait staff are wearing airbrush smiles in restaurants in France because customer’s respond better to smiles and give more tips. You can research about the science behind a smile.
I drew different styles, from many small smiles to one large one, until I decided on a design. Once done, it felt good to contribute creatively. If you want to make a DIY mask contest in your area, I think it’s a great idea! If you turn it into a donation afterwards, it’s a great way of giving back to you’re community!
