The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center hosted a mask decoration contest during October 2020! Here’s my design.
My friend loves smiley faces on pajamas and I immediately wanted to do a smiley face mask design because helping people smile during this stressful time is important! I wanted positivity, and cheerfulness to be the focus so smiley faces on masks really felt perfect.
Researching, my friend sent me a few links of airbrush smiles on masks that waiters are wearing in restaurants in France because customers responded better.
I drew a few different styles, from tiny smileys, to just one large smile. After I settled on the design, I made the mask. It felt good to be able to contribute creatively so if you want to make a mask contest in your area, I think it’s a great idea! If you turn it into a donation afterwards, it’s a great way of giving back!
